CM Punk Reportedly Walks Out on WWE
Some pretty crazy news to report as CM Punk has reportedly walked out on WWE for the foreseeable future. First reported by The Wrestling Observer (PAYWALL ALERT) and expounded upon by PWTorch, Punk walked out on Monday after RAW rewrites ended up taking him off of the show. He is no longer advertised for any house shows/events going forward. Punk last appeared at this past Sunday’s Royal Rumble, going 50 minutes in the Rumble match before being eliminated and chokeslammed through a table by Kane to continue his feud with The Authority heading into Wrestlemania XXX. At this point it doesn’t appear to be storyline-related but with pro wrestling you never can tell.
If this is indeed true, and this is a full walk-out instead of an extended break, this is pretty devastating. CM Punk is who brought me back into pro wrestling obsession after nearly a decade of only casually keeping up with the industry. But hey if the dude’s burned out and he’s got the cash to take a powder, then I won’t begrudge him. I would probably do the same thing in his position; why force yourself to do a job you’re burned out on when you can say “screw it” and enjoy the things you’re passionate about?
More on this news at it develops, despite the fact I really hope this is all made up and he’s not really gone because goddammit I’m a Punk mark and don’t want it to be a thing that’s happening.
