WWE 2019

Kurt Angle’s ‘WrestleMania 35’ Opponent is…

Last night on Monday Night RAW Kurt Angle announced his farewell match opponent for next month’s WrestleMania and it’s…Baron Corbin, the man he has been feuding with for what seems like forever. I won’t lie and say that this announcement isn’t disappointing but it’s WWE’s prerogative I guess and if Angle’s cool with it then I’m cool with it. It’s just too bad another WWE roster member had a MUCH BETTER idea that won’t be used…

WE COULD’VE HAD DRAGO KILLING APOLLO IN PRO WRESTLING FORM, aw man.

Kurt Angles Announces Farewell Match for ‘WrestleMania 35’

Kurt Angle announced last night that he will be retiring from in-ring competition, intending to wrestle his ‘farewell’ match at WrestleMania 35 next month. Angle returned to the WWE in 2017 as the headline inductee into the WWE Hall Of Fame. From there he became the GM of RAW until late-2018 when Stephanie McMahon sent him on ‘vacation’ and put Baron Corbin in charge. Since then Angle has returned in a wrestling capacity, mostly in multi-man matches as his feud with Corbin continued, but unfortunately hasn’t done much of note.

If this is indeed Angle’s final match, I hope WWE gives him someone worthy of this honor and it’s not just another friggin’ Corbin match.

Harlem Heat Announced for WWE Hall Of Fame Class of 2019, SUCKAH

NOW I’m excited. WWE.com reports that legendary tag team Harlem Heat (2013 inductee Booker T and real-life brother Stevie Ray) will be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame next month. The tag team began their career in Texas, wrestling as The Ebony Experience for the GWF, which you might remember from catching a piece of while channel flipping in the afternoons. They moved on to WCW in 1993, taking on the Harlem Heat name, and embarked on one of the greatest tag team runs in wrestling history, winning the Tag Team Championship on ten different occasions and feuding with every notable tag team (The Road Warriors) and not so notable tag team (whatever team they shoved Marcus Alexander Bagwell into that week).

I absolutely love Harlem Heat; easily top 3 best tag teams of the 90s and in the conversation for best tag team ever. I can’t wait for these guys to get inducted, and for Booker T to probably hit another Spinerooni because OF COURSE. I believe it’s the 20th anniversary since they disbanded, so their induction this year makes sense. Well it also makes sense because it’s FRIGGIN’ HARLEM HEAT but you get my point.

The WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place on April 6th, the night before WrestleMania, and will air live on the WWE Network. Harlem Heat joins D-Generation X, The Honky Tonk Man, and Torrie Wilson as the inductees announced so far.

WrestleMania 36

WrestleMania 36 will take place on April 5, 2020 from the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL. This announcement was made via press conference which I’ll be honest I didn’t pay a lot of attention to but Hulk Hogan, a local in the area, opened the proceedings and it’s still weird to see him do things for the company. You can watch the press conference if you want below:

I hope Tampa is ready for an influx of rasslin’ fans and rasslin’ events and other such rasslin’ things.

New U.S. Champ Crowned on ‘SmackDown Live’

Samoa Joe captured the WWE United States Championship last night on SmackDown Live, defeating champ R-TruthAndrade, and Rey Mysterio in a fatal four way match. Truth was attempting to emulate his ‘childhood hero’ John Cena by keeping the U.S. Open Challenge alive but instead of one competitor he got three and that DAMNED NUMBERS GAME cost him the championship. Poor guy. This is Joe’s first main roster championship and his first championship since 2016, when he reigned atop the NXT mountain. While I’m bummed the U.S. Open Challenge under R-Truth didn’t lead to him defending the title in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal or facing John Cena at WrestleMania, we still got a couple of funny segments out of it so not a total loss. Now we can sit back and watch Joe eat folks alive and finally WIN again.

If you missed SmackDown Live you can click here and read my recap. This match was a good one.
